The Columbus Dispatch reports that Ohio's new law enacting an expidited procedure for foreclosure of abandoned properties requires anyone owning rental property to register with the county auditor where the property is located. The law requires the owner to provide the owner's name and phone number as well as contact information for the property manager.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the first step in the reorganization of the City's department of building and housing will be to demolish 220 of the City's worst structures, including both residential and commercial buildings. The estimated cost of the demolition is $1.9 million. The announcement is in response to a recent consultant's report finding that the City had no systematic approach to building code enforcement.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports that Stark County will be the first Ohio county to offer electronic recording of deeds. About 20 title companies are currently participating in the service.
